HUNTINGTON, W.VA. – Cleveland State (9-4-6) was downed by No. 12 Marshall (12-3-5) 1-0 in the NCAA First Round game on Thursday evening.
This was the program's second appearance in the national tournament under head coach
Sinisa Ubiparipovic.
The Vikings had the game's first scoring chance as
Paolo Roditti's header was saved in the fifth minute. Marshall struck for the lone goal of the half in the 27th minute on a 25-yard free kick.
The second half went scoreless, with the Green and White holding a 4-3 edge in shots as the season came to an end with the 1-0 loss.
Cleveland State had six shots in the game, led by two from
Uzman Ramees and Roditti.
Ryan Poling made three saves on the evening.
