CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland State (0-1) opened dual action at home with a 27-15 loss against Columbia (1-0) on Friday evening.
The Vikings opened the match with a 6-4 victory by
Ben Aranda at 125-pounds to lead 3-0.
Jake Manley followed up with a 9-3 win at 133-pounds to make it 6-0.
Columbia answered back with consecutive falls at 141 and 149 pounds to lead 12-6.
Douglas Terry halted the spurt with a 4-2 win at 157-pounds as the Green and White trailed 12-9.
The Lions then used a fall, technical fall, and a major decision to pull ahead 27-9 with two matches left.
Joey Lyons came up with a 6-1 decision at 197-pounds and No. 18
Daniel Bucknavich followed with a 3-0 shutout as the Vikings fell at home, 27-15.
The Vikings will compete in its second Open of the year at the Navy Classic on Saturday, November 23.
