Johnstown, PA-The Cleveland State men's golf team finished as the runner-up on Tuesday at the Red Flash Invitational hosted by Saint Francis University. Cleveland State finished with a two-round total of 22-over par, three shots back of Youngstown State who took the tournament title with a 19-over par team score.
 
Every counting score for the Vikings finished in the top 15 in the individual standings with two student-athletes finishing in the top ten. Brody Simms finished in a tie for fourth place at 4-over for the tournament. Simms carded a 4-over 74, ending the tournament five shots back of West Virginia's Nicholas Turowski who finished 1-under. Simms posted scores of 70-74 to finish at 144 over 36 holes.
 
Dillon Pendergast posted his first top ten finish of the season finishing in a tie for ninth place at 5-over par. Pendergast carded rounds of 68-77 for a 145 total. Mason Frazier finished just outside the top ten at 6-over for the tournament. Frazier finished tied for 11^th, his best finish of the season. Frazier carded a 3-over 73 in the final round. Andrew Kaye also recorded his best finish of the season, a tie for 14^th at 7-over par. Kaye finished the tournament with a 3-over 73 in the final round which included three birdies.
 
Ryan Dinan finished tied for 44^th at 20-over par. Dinan carded a 9-over 79 in the final round.
 
Cleveland State led the field in par-3 scoring finishing with a 3.20 scoring average for the tournament. The Vikings finished second in the field in total birdies with 22. Pendergast finished second in the field on the par-3's with a 1-under total. Simms tied for the lead in total pars with 28 and Pendergast finished tied for third with six total birdies.
 
The Vikings return to the course on October 21 for the Dayton Flyer Invitational. This marks the final fall tournament of the season.
