CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State women's tennis team continued its strong play at the Horizon League Individual Championship Saturday, with
Oihane Vicario advancing to the singles final and the teams of
Ella Franz/
Tereze Vevere and Vicario/
Sima Heren earning a spot in the doubles semifinals.
Vicario picked up a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Youngstown State in the quarterfinals, before earning a 7-5, 7-6(3) win over Vevere in the semifinals to earn her spot in Sunday's final match.
Also picking up wins in Saturday's quarterfinal action were Vevere (6-2, 6-1) and Heren (6-3, 6-0), putting three Vikings into Saturday's semifinal singles matches.
In addition,
Filippa Frogner picked up a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Milwaukee, while
Ella Franz earned a 6-3, 6-4 win over the Panthers in consolation singles matches.
In doubles play, the team of Vicario and Heren earned an 8-2 victory, while Vevere and Franz posted an 8-4 win, with both wins coming against Milwaukee. With the victories, the two teams will now play in Sunday's semifinals.
Action on the final day of the Horizon League Individual Championship will begin at 11:00 a.m. tomorrow.
