Cleveland, OH-Head Coach Daniyal Robinson announced today the signing of his son, Reece Robinson, as the newest member of the Cleveland State men's basketball program. Robinson joins Tyler Spratt in the 2023-24 recruiting class as the second member to sign with the Vikings.
"This is a truly special moment for my family and Cleveland State Basketball alike as we announce the signing of Reece Robinson to our 2024 class," remarked Coach Robinson. "I could not be prouder as a coach and as a father to have the opportunity to work with him at this level. First and foremost, Reece has earned this opportunity through his hard work and dedication. On the court, Reece is a versatile Forward who can defend multiple positions, excels at scoring around the basket, and has a relentless work ethic. I have no doubt that Reece will make significant contributions to our program. I'm looking forward to the journey ahead with Reece and the rest of our 2024 recruiting class."
Robinson enters his second year as a standout forward at St. Ignatius high school. In his first season, he helped to lead the Wildcats to the OHSAA regional semifinal round, winning a sectional and district championship last season. Prior to his time at St. Ignatius, Robinson played for Centennial High School in Ankeny, Iowa for two seasons during his father's final years as an assistant coach at Iowa State.
"I'm so happy for Reece and the Robinson family. Reece has been a joy to coach and get to know personally these past two years," said St. Ignatius Varsity Coach Cam Joyce. "The Cleveland State basketball program is getting a high character young man who is going to come in day one and give it his all every possession on the court and in the classroom. His development on the court has been off the charts in such a short period of time. I truly believe Reece's best basketball is ahead of him at the college level"
Robinson is the middle child of three for parents Daniyal and Kim Robinson. His older sister Devyn is also a Division I student-athlete, she is currently a senior Outside Hitter for the University of Wisconsin volleyball team. He also has a younger brother, Reid, who also attends St. Ignatius.
