Cleveland State Lacrosse Drops Season Finale to Robert Morris

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland State fell in their 2022 season finale to Robert Morris, 19-12 inside the Krenzler Bubble on Saturday afternoon. The Vikings conclude the year with a 3-10 overall record and 0-5 mark in their first year of ASUN play.

The Vikings rattled off two goals in the opening two minutes by Adam Clark and Ryan Haigh. Robert Morris netted their first goal at the 12:15 mark to get within 2-1.

Cleveland State answered back with three straight goals by Jason Sullivan, Ian McKissick, and Brendan Sigurdson to lead 5-1 with 1:47 remaining in the first quarter. The Colonials cut the deficit to 5-2, scoring just as time expired.

The Green and White opened the second-quarter scoring with 13:41 showing as R. Haigh scored off a pass from Alex Van Voorhis to make it 6-2. However, the Colonials closed the half with five straight goals to lead 7-6 at halftime.

RMU's run continued into the third quarter, rattling off nine straight to lead 16-6 with 3:52 left in the frame. Gavin Held ended the run with a goal off a pass from R. Haigh as the Vikings trailed by nine with one quarter remaining.

A man-up tally by Held on an assist from Derek Radke started the scoring at the 14:47 mark. However, Robert Morris netted three unanswered goals, stretching the margin to 19-8 with 10:13 to go in the contest.

Cleveland State ended the year on a high note, scoring four consecutive goals as R. Haigh scored twice, and Nick Polydoras and Amiri Austin each scored once as CSU fell, 19-12.

Inside the Box Score
The Vikings won the faceoff battle with 17 on the day led by Evan Moskwa going 10-of-17. Moskwa also picked up a game-best eight ground balls.

R. Haigh finished with a game-best four goals and an assist. Held was the other Viking with multiple goals in the finale. Gannon Matthews dished out a team-best three assists.

Cameron Logan made 14 saves in the start before giving way to Connor Kernan, who recorded a shutout in the 8:51 that he played.
