Cleveland State Lacrosse Garners Five NEC Awards

BRIDGEWATER, NJ – After securing its first NEC postseason spot and second postseason appearance in program history, the Vikings lacrosse team received five All-Conference awards.

Adam Van Voorhis and Seth Alejandrino were recognized on the First Team, Robbie Stewart and Payton Corpus were named to the Second Team, and Landon Whalen received All-Rookie honors.

Adam Van Voorhis | Sophomore | Columbus, Ohio | Midfield | First Team
Van Voorhis received his first-ever league accolade after appearing in all 13 games with 12 starts in the midfield. Van Voorhis led the Green and White in assists (17) and was second on the team in points (32). The assist mark is the fifth most in a single season. The Columbus, Ohio, native also scored 13 goals on the year, including three multi-goal games. Within the league, he ranked third in assists per game and total assists.
 
Seth Alejandrino | Sophomore | Centerville, Ohio | Defense | First Team
Alejandrino netted his first career league honor after starting 12 of the 13 games on the year. This season, he set the program record for caused turnovers (29) and tied the game record for CTS (6) against Mercyhurst. Alejandrino ranks second on the team in ground balls with 37. In addition, he recorded his first collegiate goal and assist this season. Following the game against Mercyhurst, Alejandrino was named the NEC Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Robbie Stewart | Senior | Raleigh, N.C. | Faceoff | Second Team
Stewart garnered his first postseason award after playing in all 13 games as the primary faceoff specialist. This season he ranks fourth in faceoff wins (132) and sixth in ground balls (59). For his career, he ranks second in ground balls (209) and faceoff wins (422). Within the league, Stewart ranks fifth in faceoff wins and sixth in faceoff percentage.
 
Payton Corpus | Senior | Belvidere, Ill. | Long Stick Midfielder | Second Team
Corpus brought in postseason accolades after starting all 13 contests as a long pole midfielder. The senior has forced 20 turnovers which ranks third for a single season. He has also picked up 33 ground balls, placing him third on the team.
 
Landon Whalen | Freshman | Hilliard, Ohio | Attack | Rookie Team
Whalen had an outstanding first season in the Green and White with 15 goals and nine assists for 24 points. The Hilliard, Ohio, native started all 13 games on attack and received one NEC Offensive & Freshman of the Week honor. In the home finale versus Le Moyne, Whalen had a season-best four goals and two assists for six points.
