Cleveland State Lacrosse Downed by Air Force, 12-8

USAFA, Colo. – Cleveland State fell on the road in ASUN play to Air Force on Saturday by the final score of 12-8. With the setback, the Vikings drop to 3-8 overall and 0-3 in conference games.

Air Force accounted for both goals in the first quarter, scoring at 10:29 and with 12 seconds remaining to lead the Vikings 2-0.

The Falcons extended their lead to three before the Green and White got on the board with an unassisted goal by Adam Clark with 12:51 left in the first half. Just a minute later, Clark netted his second straight off an assist by Reggie Regala to get within 3-2.

Cleveland State evened the game at three-apiece with 9:43 showing as Gavin Held scored off a pass from Jason Sullivan.

Air Force retook the lead with 4:56 to go in the half, but Cleveland State retied the game less than a minute later as Gannon Matthews scored off a feed from Amiri Austin.

Derek Radke put Cleveland State ahead for the first time, 5-4 with two minutes left in the half, scoring off Sullivan's second helper of the day.

The Falcons ran off four straight goals to open the third quarter, jumping ahead of the Vikings, 8-5, with 7:56 showing. Ian Mckissick tallied the final and lone goal of the quarter for CSU with 2:46 remaining to trail 8-6.

Air Force tallied the first four goals of the final quarter, extending their advantage to 12-6 with 2:35 left in regulation. Sullivan found the back of the net with an unassisted goal to bring the score within five. Ryan Haigh then tied the single-season scoring record (26) with 49 seconds remaining, scoring off a pass from Matthews as the Green and White fell on the road, 12-8.

Inside the Box Score
Clark was the lone Viking to finish with multiple goals. Sullivan boasted a game-best three assists.

Evan Moskwa and Karson Burkey scooped up three ground balls apiece. Clark and Jon Sokolowski each caused two turnovers.

Cameron Logan made 13 saves in the cage for the Green and White.

The Green and White remain on the road to face Detroit Mercy on Saturday, April 23 at 8 p.m. in Birmingham, Michigan, at Seaholm High School.
