Cleveland State Lacrosse Suffers 11-10 Setback to St. Bonaventure at Home

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Vikings dropped the second game of the home-and-home weekend series with St. Bonaventure, 11-10 on Sunday afternoon.

St. Bonaventure opened the scoring with an unassisted goal at the 13:34 mark. Jason Sullivan evened the game back up with an unassisted goal of his own with 9:52 to play in the quarter. Just 28 seconds later, Ryan Haigh scored off a pass from Michael Care, putting the Vikings on top, 2-1.

Derek Radke then found the back of the net off a feed from Adam Clark to make it 3-1 with 6:35 remaining in the opening quarter. The Bonnies closed the quarter with back-to-back goals in a 22-second span to tie the game at 3-3.

A man-up goal for the Bonnies just 20 seconds into the second quarter put them back on top, 4-3. Sullivan then tallied consecutive goals in a 31-second span to complete his hat-trick and give the Vikings a 5-4 advantage with 7:29 to go in the first half.

Adam Clark scored off a pass from Gannon Matthews to extend the margin to 6-4 with 2:55 showing on the scoreboard. The Bonnies got a goal back with 25 seconds remaining in the half to trail the Vikings at halftime, 6-5.

Cleveland State notched the first goal of the new half as Amiri Austin scored off an assist from Radke to lead 7-5 with 9:17 showing. The Bonnies scored their lone goal of the frame with 3:36 remaining to get within one. Clark got the goal back for CSU at 1:57 mark after scoring his second of the afternoon off Radke's second helper of the quarter to lead 8-6.

St. Bonaventure accounted for the first two goals of the final quarter, tying the game at 8-8 with 12:20 left in regulation.

Matthews put the Green and White back on top by one, scoring off a pass from Sullivan at the 10:40 mark. 11 seconds later, Ian McKissick raised the margin to 10-8 with an unassisted goal. However, the Bonnies scored the final three goals of the contest with the game-winner coming with 1:57 left to win, 11-10.

Cleveland State held a 36-26 advantage in ground balls with Evan Moskwa scooping up a game-best nine. Moskwa was also 13-of-21 in the faceoff circle.

Sullivan finished with a team-best three goals, while Clark contributed two. Clark and Radke each finished with a game-best two assists.

Karson Burkey had a game-best two caused turnovers. Cameron Logan made 13 saves in the cage.
