It was another outstanding semester for Cleveland State student-athletes in the classroom. The 365+ student-athletes, representing 18 NCAA Division I programs, as well as the new co-ed varsity e-sports squad, finished with a record-breaking 3.43 semester GPA.
"I am extremely proud of our student-athletes and what they continue to accomplish in their academic pursuits," Vice President and Director of Athletics Scott Garrett said. "I want to congratulate each and every student-athlete, along with extending gratitude to our support staff and coaches, who made another record-setting semester possible."
The department's cumulative GPA stands at 3.47. This marks the 32nd consecutive semester that CSU student-athletes have finished with a GPA above a 3.0. It is also the eighth consecutive semester that Viking student-athletes have posted a GPA above a 3.3, dating back to 2018-19.
A total of seven women's teams finished above a 3.45 GPA for the semester. Fencing had the highest fall GPA of any team with a 3.81. Volleyball finished with a 3.72, and Women's Golf registered a 3.69.
On the men's side, Swimming and Diving finished with the highest team GPA at 3.56 for the fall semester. Lacrosse registered a 3.5, and Wrestling and Men's Golf were close behind at 3.44. Seven teams finished with a 3.3 or higher semester GPA.
Overall, 205 student-athletes were named to the Dean's List. 38 were named to the President's List, and 49 Viking student-athletes finished the semester with a perfect 4.0 GPA.
