CLEVELAND, Ohio – Former Cleveland State Athletic Director John Parry has been announced as part of the 2026 National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) Hall of Fame class. Parry is part of an eight-member class that will be honored in conjunction with the 61
st annual NACDA & Affiliates Convention in Las Vegas, Nevada on Monday, June 8.
Parry, who is being honored posthumously, served as the Cleveland State Athletic Director from 2010-2017.
During his time at Cleveland State, the university captured the McCafferty Trophy in 2012-13, which is awarded annually to the best athletics program in the Horizon League. In addition, he oversaw the development of the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion, which still serves as the home court for the men's and women's tennis programs as well as a multi-use tennis facility for the Greater Cleveland Community. Parry also successfully launched the lacrosse program in 2017.
Through his six years as athletic director at Cleveland State, the Vikings captured 16 Horizon League Championships, while the department registered a cumulative GPA of 3.19 with over 500 student-athletes being named to the Horizon League Academic Honor Roll.
Cleveland State was Parry's final stop during his illustrious career, also spending time as an athletic director at his alma mater Brown University (1979-90) and Butler (1990-2006), serving as an athletics administrator for more than three decades. In addition, Parry served on the NACDA Executive Committee from 1999-2003 and was recognized as the NACDA Athletics Director of the Year in 2002-03.
