CSU Closes Weekend at Vassar

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Cleveland State University fencing teams closed the weekend Sunday at the Vassar Invitational inside Walker Field House.

Multiple teams that were scheduled to compete were not able to attend due to the wintry weather.

As a result, both CSU squads faced Vassar twice, with both genders going 0-2 on the day.

The men lost by scores of 19-8 and 14-13. The foil and epee units led the way by registering eight points on the day. John Wenger and Ian Wu topped the team with four victories each on the day.

The Viking women lost by scores of 21-6 and 17-8. The foil unit led the way by recording seven points on the day. Freshman Claire Maltman and Dorian Pichola tied for the team lead with four victories Sunday.

Cleveland State will return to action on the first weekend of February at the Northwestern Duals.
