WESTLAKE, Ohio - The Cleveland State women's tennis team posted its second sweep of the season - and the second during Horizon League play - as the Vikings earned a 7-0 victory over Valparaiso. Sunday's win puts CSU at 10-10 overall this year and 4-2 in league action.

"This was a good team win for us today, we were really able to concentrate on things we needed to work on and get back in the win column," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "We really worked to stay focused during all of the matches and on our mental toughness, which we will need during the league tournament. It was good to see Mengdi get back in the lineup and get a singles and doubles win for us, she really does a nice job of filling in when we need her to."

The Vikings started the day with three convincing wins in doubles play and carried that momentum throughout the singles matches. The No. 2 (Alex Power & Maria Lazaris) and No. 3 (Mengdi Liu/Nicole Janek) teams clinched the doubles point for CSU with matching 8-1 victories, while the No. 1 duo of Alex Bush and Kara Sherwood posted an 8-2 win.

Sherwood and Lazaris quickly picked up two singles points for the Vikings, with dominating 6-0, 6-0 victories at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, respectively. Janek then clinched the match for CSU with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at the No. 5 spot.

Orange and Power followed with 6-2, 6-2 victories at No. 1 and No. 2 singles after controlling their matches from the beginning. Liu picked up the final point of the day for the Vikings, earning a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 6 singles.

The Vikings will close out the regular season next weekend, hosting Walsh on Friday (April 19) and traveling to Wright State on Sunday (April 21).
