BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Alex Power led the Cleveland State women's tennis team on the final day of the BGSU Invitational, as she captured the Flight 6 Singles title Saturday afternoon. The Vikings also had two doubles teams place second, while Nicole Janek finished fifth in the Flight 4 Singles bracket.

"Overall we had a good day again today," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "We were a little short on our doubles goal and you can always hope for more, but I was very happy with how we ended the invite this weekend. Alex struggled in her opening set today, but she stormed back to win the title in her flight, which was great to see from her."

After winning both matches on Friday, Power earned a 1-6, 7-5, 6-2 victory over Duquesne's Tara Majdalani for the Flight 6 Singles title this afternoon. Janek, who was the other Viking to win a singles match on Saturday, placed fifth in the Flight 4 Singles bracket with a 7-5, 6-0 win over Chloe Caroub of Detroit.

In Flight 3 Doubles action, the CSU team of Maria Lazaris and Kara Sherwood earned an 8-4 victory during their second round match, before falling in the championship match to Bowling Green's Emily Reuland and Jessica Easdale. It was much of the same for the Viking team of Power and Mengdi Liu, as they won their Flight 4 Doubles second round match, 8-1 before falling to Raquel Vescovi and Frederique Sunstrum of IPFW in the championship match.

"We came up just short in a few other matches today, but throughout the day we found things to work on going forward. Hopefully with a two week break we will be able to get healthy and have a strong outing at the Kentucky Invite in two weeks," Etzkin said.

The Vikings will next compete at the Kentucky Invitational, with action taking place in two weeks, on Friday (Sept. 30), Saturday (Oct. 1) and Sunday (Oct. 2).
