COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Cleveland State women's tennis team concluded their fall schedule Saturday, as they finished play at the ITA Midwest Regional.

"Catrine and Maria were up 4-1 today and had opportunities to win, but we didn't quite play as loose as we did yesterday," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "They lost to a good Toledo team today and they had a great run into the round of 16 here at the regionals."

After winning two matches on Friday to reach the round of 16 in the main doubles draw, Catrine Bjerrehus and Maria Lazaris fell to a duo from Toledo, 8-6 Saturday afternoon.

The duo of Nicole Janek and Kara Sherwood were also in action for the Vikings Saturday, playing in the doubles consolation bracket. Janek and Sherwood recorded an 8-6 win over a team from IPFW to end the fall season on a winning note.

"It was great for Nicole and Kara to get a win in the consolation bracket for us today. I am really looking forward to the spring season and what this team will be able to accomplish after watching them play this fall," Etzkin said.

The Vikings will open the spring season on Saturday, January 21 when CSU travels to DePaul.
