WESTLAKE, Ohio - Cleveland State won the doubles point, but IPFW rallied to win four singles matches and claim a 4-3 win over the Vikings in nonconference tennis action on Saturday night at the Paramount Tennis Club.

The loss drops the Vikings to 1-3 this spring.

"I thought we did a great job in doubles to get the point and I thought that momentum would carry us to the victory tonight," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "But we didn't get the job done in singles. There are some things we still need to work on as a team to get better and hopefully we will be able to show continued improvement as this season progresses."

CSU claimed wins in two of the three singles matches to earn the doubles point and take a 1-0 lead in the match as the teams headed to singles play.

Kara Sherwood and Alex Power earned an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles, while Nicola Janek and Maria Lazaris won at No. 3 doubles, 8-3.

However, the Mastodons rallied to win four of the six singles contests and squeak out the win by one point.

Alex Bush (No. 5 singles) and Lazaris (No. 6) picked up singles wins for CSU.

CSU will be back in action next Sunday (Feb. 6) when the Vikings host St. Bonaventure at 3:00 p.m. at the Paramount Tennis Club.
