WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Cleveland State women's tennis team continued its early season road schedule on Saturday morning when the Vikings fell at Purdue, 7-0.
The loss drops the Vikings to 0-4, while the Boilermakers improved to 3-0.
"This was our fourth straight match against a team that we were the underdog against, but I thought we did a good job of battling and not giving up," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "I hope this tough early season schedule challenged us and prepared us for the league slate."
Purdue won the doubles point by sweeping all three matches, including 8-2 wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 slots. CSU sophomore Catrine Bjerrehus and senior Charlotte Gibbons put up a tough battle at No. 1, but wound up falling, 8-4.
The Boilermakers then won all six singles matches in straight sets.
