CLEVELAND, Ohio - CSU swept the doubles competition and won five of six singles matches against Niagara on Sunday afternoon. The Vikings are now 3-2 on the season.
Freshman Melissa Holzinger defeated Raquel Solis 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, while senior Jenn Myers won at No. 2 singles, defeating Vanja Lakic. Freshman Sanda Bjelan won the only three-set match of the day, defeating Shella Dargout 3-6, 7-6 (3), 6-4 at No. 3 singles. Sophomores Charlotte Gibbons and Denisa Muntean won at No. 4 and 5 singles, respectively.
"Today we picked up a solid win," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "We had to work with different doubles combinations, but still came through to win another doubles point. We played well and worked hard to get this win. Melissa and Jenn played well in the top half of the lineup and Lindsay jumped into the lineup and played solid at doubles."
The Vikings host St. Francis (PA) on Saturday, Feb. 9 at 12:00 p.m. at River Oaks Racquet Club.
