CLEVELAND, Ohio - After dropping the doubles point, Cleveland State won four of six singles matches to defeat Akron, 4-3. The win is CSU's fifth straight and puts the Vikings at a 6-2 overall record.

Freshmen Melissa Holzinger (9-10) and Sanda Bjelan (12-6) stretched their win streak to six matches, defeating Tanyaradzwa Gombera, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 singles and Lindsey Berry, 3-6, 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4 singles, respectively. Senior Jenn Myers (10-7) won 6-1, 6-2 over Carolina Castro Cota at No. 3 singles, while sophomore Denisa Muntean (11-7) won 6-1, 6-1 over Alyssa Carlson at No. 6 singles to clinch the victory for the Vikings.

"We did not play doubles very well today and still have work to do," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "It was great to come back to win after losing the doubles point. Melissa and Jenn got us back into the match to even out the score. Sanda had a nice comeback after dropping the first set and Denisa handled the pressure well to clinch the win."
