Postgame Quotes

Nov. 10, 2008

Cleveland State Head Coach Gary Waters:
"I thought our first group pressed today because they are trying to live up to expectations. I think our secondary group went out and did a good job. They went out and extended the lead. We have to execute on the offensive end, but that will come. I was impressed with the younger kids playing and doing some things. I like to see the balanced scoring in a game like this."

"Eric (Schiele) can shoot the basketball. Each player on our team has confidence in him and I am glad that they do. He has the ability and I have to get him out there. He hasn't played in almost two years and just like anything, if you don't do something for a long time, it's not easy to come out and do well. I was impressed that he did what he did. It's going to take him four or five games to do what he can do."

"I have to figure out the rotation. Whoever wins the battle will have a chance to get out there on the floor. The veterans who are coming back will be on the floor. I am still trying to find the extra two, three of four guys who will fill out the rotation. We have spent a large portion of our practices on defense so I could get that mindset right so our offense isn't quite where it needs to be."

"I was impressed with Jeremey (Montgomery). I've been riding him hard in practice, but he came out and played hard and did some impressive things. He is starting to feel a bit more comfortable as we go on and did a nice job of leading the team with the ball."

"Our seniors lead us and they communicate to the young kids and make sure they do what they need to do. We have great leadership and they all want to lead which is a good situation to be in."

"We're going to be between 15 and 18 three's per game. If we're shooting more than that, we're in trouble. We have to get the ball inside."

Cleveland State's Eric Schiele:
"I feel good this year and healthy. I'm excited to be out here and playing competitively. I came out and played hard in the second half and it was a lot of fun."

"Coach said my role is to get in there and knock down some shots. I have to have good shot selection and knock down some open shots."

Cleveland State's Norris Cole:
"It's easier with a year of experience. Coach has prepped us all summer and we have been working hard. We just wanted to show that hard work pays off. I am much more comfortable on the court as a sophomore with a year under my belt.

"All our hard work in practice transfers over on game day. We go hard in practice and it's good to go hard at other teams. We are not looking ahead. We are just taking it one game, one practice at a time."

Cleveland State's Cedric Jackson:
"We've been waiting so long to play and we are human and make mistakes. We had to regroup in the second half because the first half wasn't as well as we could play."
