Cleveland, Ohio - Cleveland State won all nine matches to sweep St. Francis (PA), 7-0 , for its first victory of the year at the River Oaks Racquet Club Saturday. The Vikings are now 1-3 on the season.
After being swept by Akron the night before, the Vikings took all three doubles points, including the Nos. 1 and 3 points by 8-0.
Senior Sarah Galon (11-5) won at No.1 singles, 6-0, 6-3 to set the tone as freshman Denisa Muntean won 6-1, 6-1 and junior Lindsay Sellers captured her first victory of the season, 6-0, 6-2.
Juniors Jenn Myers and Christine Vogelgeasang each won for the first time this year to finish the Viking sweep.
"It was good to get our first win this year," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "A lot of times the first win is the hardest. We're playing well right now considering how early it is in the season."
