EAST LANSING, Mich. - Senior Sarah Galon dropped two singles matches in the qualifying bracket and was eliminated from the ITA Regional Tournament on Thursday (Oct. 19). Galon, the only Viking women's player in the singles tournament, is now 8-5 on the season.
In the opening round of the qualifier against Michigan State's Sarah Andrews, Galon won the first set, 6-1, before losing the next two sets 6-3, 6-2. In the second round, Galon fell to Bowling Green Ashley Jakupcin in straight sets 6-3, 6-4.
"Sarah played very well, but her competition really picked up their play in both matches," CSU assistant coach David Howell said. "Unfortunately, Sarah couldn't match it, but she's still going to be a factor in doubles play."
Galon will be playing with fellow senior Morgan Ungerott in the doubles tournament starting on Friday (Oct. 20). The duo is 8-1 this season.
