CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland State (2-3-1, 1-1-0) blanked Detroit (1-5-1, 0-2-0) 2-0 for the first league win of the year on Saturday evening.
The first shot of the game for the home team resulted in a
Djordje Petrovic goal off a ball over the top from
Tom Mertz.
The 1-0 advantage held heading into the intermission despite Cleveland State having just that single shot. The Vikings defense extended its first half shutout streak to six games.
Petrovic went spin cycle on a pair of Titan defenders before finding the corner netting for his second of the game and a 2-0 lead in 62nd minute.
Cleveland State maintained the 2-0 victory for its first league win of the year and second clean sheet of the season.
The Vikings held a 9-7 edge in shots and 3-1 advantage in shots on goal.
Uzman Ramees,
Domenic Ruggiero, and Petrovic all had two shots apiece.
Aleksandar Kolar made one save for his second shutout of the year in goal.
The Vikings remain home on Saturday, Sept. 22 as Green Bay visits Krenzler Field at 2 p.m.
