A Macey Fegan jumper to start the scoring for the Vikings during the fourth quarter maintained Cleveland State's three-point lead, while a Sarah Hurley three-pointer a few plays later put the Vikings back on top at 60-57 after trading leads with the Grizzlies.

The two teams then traded baskets over the next few possessions, until back-to-back shots from Fegan and Colbi Maples evened the score at 68-68 with 1:37 left on the clock. Although Oakland was able to regain the lead with an and-one play on its next possession, the Vikings responded with a pair of Maples free throws to close the gap to just one point at 71-70 with less than one minute left on the clock.

Oakland was then able to regain a two-point lead at 72-70, before a foul on Zingaro with just one second left on the clock put her on the free throw line with the chance to tie the contest. Zingaro went on to knock both free throws down, sending the contest into overtime with the score 72-72.

The Vikings jumped out to a quick 79-72 lead to begin overtime following a Jada Leonard three-pointer and a pair of Zingaro layups, but the Grizzlies weren't done yet, as they answered with a 7-0 run to gain a slim 80-79 lead with just 55 seconds remaining.
