CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State women's basketball team closed out regular season play on Saturday, picking up a 73-59 victory over Oakland on Senior Day. With the win, the Vikings are now 23-8 overall this season and finished the year with a 13-7 #HLWBB record.

The Game
After a back-and-forth first quarter that had Oakland leading 21-18 after 10 minutes of play, the Vikings quickly regained the lead over the first few possessions of the second quarter, as back-to-back baskets from
Colbi Maples put the Vikings up 23-21 on a three-pointer at the 8:48 mark.
The two teams then traded baskets, and leads, over the next few minutes, until an 11-0 Cleveland State run gave the Vikings a double-digit lead at 36-26, before Oakland closed the frame with a basket of its own, sending the two teams into the halftime break with the score at 36-28.
Although Oakland was able to get on the scoreboard first during the third quarter, the Vikings answered with a 7-0 run, as an
Izabella Zingaro and-one play put the Vikings up by 14 at 44-30 midway through the frame. The Grizzlies were then able to work their way back into the contest throughout the remainder of the frame, as Cleveland State held a 48-41 lead heading into the final 10 minutes of play.
Cleveland State swung the momentum back into its favor over the opening minutes of the fourth quarter then, as a Zingaro layup followed by a free throw regained a double-digit lead for the Vikings at 54-44.
After trading baskets over the next few minutes, the Vikings were able to close out the contest with an 11-5 run, capped off by a
Laurel Rockwood jumper in the final seconds to give the Vikings their largest lead of the contest at 73-59 at the final buzzer.
