Cleveland State Women’s Basketball Picks Up 81-55 Victory At Wright State

FAIRBORN, Ohio – The Cleveland State women's basketball team opened the final week of regular season play with a win on Wednesday, notching an 81-55 victory at Wright State. With the win, the Vikings are now 22-8 overall this season and 12-7 in league play.

-Izabella Zingaro led the Vikings with 29 points, while Jada Leonard added 15, Macey Fegan chipped in 14 and Colbi Maples added 11.
-Macey Fegan grabbed a team-best nine rebounds, while Izabella Zingaro recorded five boards.
-The Vikings shot 52-percent from the field on the game, including a .615 clip during the fourth quarter.
-The Vikings combined for 13 assists, including five from Macey Fegan.

The Game
Cleveland State opened the contest with back-to-back baskets from Izabella Zingaro and Jada Leonard, gaining a 5-0 lead that they would go on to hold for the entire contest. After trading baskets throughout the middle part of the frame, the Vikings closed out the quarter on an 11-0 run, with a Colbi Maples four-point play putting Cleveland State up 20-4 after the first 10 minutes of action.

Although Wright State was then able to control play during the second quarter, outscoring the Vikings 22-19, Cleveland State was still able to take a double-digit lead into the halftime break at 39-26.
Cleveland State quickly added to its lead over the opening minutes of the third quarter then, as a pair of Leonard baskets and a Zingaro layup gave the Vikings a 16-point lead at 45-29 early in the frame.

Wright State once again responded to close the gap to single digits midway through the frame, but a pair of Zingaro free throws followed by a Paula Pique three-pointer stopped the Raider scoring run and put the Vikings back up by 14 at 52-38.

The Vikings then closed out the frame on a 6-2 run, taking a 58-42 advantage into the final 10 minutes of action.

After Wright State opened the fourth quarter with a pair of baskets, the Vikings answered with 10 straight points, gaining a 68-46 lead after a Sarah Hurley three-pointer at the 6:36 mark.

The Vikings then controlled play throughout the remainder of the quarter, including extending their lead to 29-points following an Ayisse Magassa jumper, before pulling away with the 81-55 victory.
