YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Cleveland State (10-18, 6-11) was dealt a 106-82 loss at Youngstown State (14-14, 7-10) on Wednesday evening.
Jaidon Lipscomb eclipsed the 30-point mark for a second time this season, finishing with a season-best 32 points on 12-of-21 shooting. The senior went 8-of-17 from beyond the arc.
Kamari Jones received the start and finished with a season-best 14 points on 3-of-7 shooting. All his baskets came from three-point range.
The Vikings finished with 16 three-pointers for the third time this season and had 15 assists on their 29 made baskets.
Josiah Harris led the Green and White on the boards with eight.
Youngstown State led 13-4 when a Harris three-pointer sparked an 8-2 run to get within a possession, 15-12, with 13:27 remaining in the first half. The Penguins answered right back with 12 straight points to lead 27-12 with 10:15 to go in the half.
Cleveland State used an 8-1 run to trim the deficit to single digits, 28-20, at the 8:40 mark. However, the Penguins stretched the margin back out to the largest of the half, 40-24, with 5:37 showing on the clock.
A Lipscomb three-pointer ignited a 10-2 run to bring the Green and White to within 42-34 with 3:35 remaining in the half. YSU would take a 52-38 advantage into the half, with both teams connecting on nine three-pointers.
The Vikings got as close as 63-51 at the 14:26 mark when Youngstown State went on a 12-0 run to claim a 75-51 advantage with 11:36 to go in the contest. Cleveland State wouldn't get any closer before falling 106-82.
