Cleveland State Women’s Basketball Picks Up 87-75 Victory Over Wright State

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State women's basketball team got back in the win column on Wednesday, picking up an 87-75 victory over Wright State.

Game Stats
-Izabella Zingaro paced the Viking offense with 19 points, while Macey Fegan and Jada Leonard both added 16 points.
-Macey Fegan grabbed a team-best 10 rebounds, while Sarah Hurley posted nine boards and Izabella Zingaro added seven.
-The Vikings shot 50-percent from the field on the game, including a .700 clip during the fourth quarter.
-Cleveland State combined for 21 assists on 27 made field goals, with six from Macey Fegan and five from Jada Leonard.

Game Notes
-Macey Fegan recorded her second double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
-The 21 assists marked the third 20+ assist game of the season for the Vikings.
-The Vikings have now shot 50-percent or better during six games this season after finishing right on the number against Wright State.

The Game
After taking a seven-point lead into the halftime break at 36-29, the Vikings used a 9-2 run over the first part of the third quarter to extend their lead to 49-41 on an Ella Van Weelden three-pointer. Although the Raiders were able to stop the CSU scoring run on their next possession, the Vikings responded with a Laurel Rockwood layup and a pair of Colbi Maples free throws to gain a double-digit lead at 53-43 with 3:46 left on the clock.

Cleveland State went on to hold a sizeable lead throughout the rest of the frame, taking a 63-50 advantage into the fourth quarter after Jada Leonard went 3-for-3 at the free throw line after being fouled on a last second three-point shot.

Over the opening minutes of the fourth quarter, the two teams traded baskets until a Sarah Hurley three-pointer midway through the quarter put the Vikings up 72-55. Just over a minute later the Vikings extended their lead to 20-points, as a Rockwood free throw put the score at 76-56.

The Vikings then went on to maintain control throughout the final 4:01, coming away with the 87-75 victory to get back in the win column.
