CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State women's basketball team closed out its first roadswing of the 2026 calendar year on Sunday, dropping a 66-58 contest at Milwaukee.

The Game
After a back-and-forth start to the contest, the Vikings used an 11-0 run midway through the opening quarter to gain a 15-6 lead on an
Izabella Zingaro layup. Although the Panthers were able to stop the scoring run on their ensuing possession, Cleveland State answered with back-to-back baskets from
Ayisse Magassa and
Sarah Hurley, taking a 20-8 lead into the second frame.
Milwaukee was able to close the gap to single digits over the opening minutes of the second frame then, until a
Macey Fegan jumper put the Vikings back up by 10 at 22-12 with 8:31 left on the clock. A trio of baskets from Fegan and Zingaro over the next 1:48 extended Cleveland State's lead to 16 points at 28-12, before the Panthers were once again able to close the gap to just 10 points over the next few possessions.
Another Fegan jumper stopped the Panther scoring run, while a 4-for-4 effort from the free throw line by
Jada Leonard over the final 31 seconds of the quarter gave Cleveland State a 34-22 lead heading into the halftime break.
The momentum swung to Milwaukee's side during the third quarter, as a 25-11 advantage for the Panthers during the frame put them on top 47-45 heading into the final 10 minutes of play.
The Vikings then opened the fourth quarter with eight straight points, regaining a 53-47 advantage on a Leonard steal and layup just over two minutes into the frame.
The two teams then traded baskets over the next few possessions, until an 11-2 run from Milwaukee put the lead back in its favor – an advantage that the Panthers would go on to hold for the remainder of the contest, coming away with the 66-58 victory.
