The two teams traded points throughout the rest of the quarter then, with Cleveland State taking a 32-26 lead into the halftime break following an
Ayisse Magassa basket.

The Vikings were able to quickly erase the deficit at the beginning of the fourth quarter, with a pair of three-pointers from Maples and Leonard putting Cleveland State up 48-43 just over one minute into the frame. The two teams would then trade baskets over the next few possessions, with Cleveland State responding each time the Phoenix regained the lead, until Green Bay earned a 55-52 advantage at the 2:36 mark.
