Cleveland State Women's Basketball Closes Homestand By Hosting RMU

SETTING THE SCENE
The Cleveland State women's basketball team will close out its current three-game homestand this weekend, hosting Robert Morris in a 2:00 p.m. contest on Sunday, January 18. Entering Sunday's matchup, the Vikings are 14-5 overall this season and 4-4 in Horizon League play, while the Colonials are 12-5 on the year and 5-3 in league action.
 
A WIN ON SUNDAY WOULD...

THE CLEVELAND STATE/ROBERT MORRIS SERIES
Sunday's game will mark the 15th meeting between the two teams, with Cleveland State holding a 9-5 edge in the all-time series. As Horizon League opponents, Cleveland State owns a 7-2 record against the Colonials, including six straight entering Sunday's contest.
 
SCOUTING THE COLONIALS
Robert Morris enters Sunday's game with a 12-5 record on the year, including a 5-3 mark in Horizon League play…Most recently, the Colonials picked up an 80-70 overtime victory at IU Indy and have won two out of their last three contests…RMU currently sits fourth in the #HLWBB standings as one of five teams with 5+ league wins so far this year…As a team, RMU leads the league with a .788 free throw percentage, while the Colonials rank second averaging 38.5 rebounds and 4.12 blocked shots per game…Individually, Aislin Malcolm ranks sixth averaging 13.0 points per game, while Eva Levingston ranks seventh in rebounding (6.1).
 
HOME-SWEET-HOME
Sunday's contest will be the 12th game of a 17-game home slate for the Vikings this season - a place where they own a 10-1 record so far this season. Over the last four years, the Vikings have combined for a 57-4 record when playing at home, including a perfect 17-0 record during the 2023-24 campaign.
 
…DOUBLE-DIGIT HOME WINS
Wednesday's win over Detroit Mercy gave the Vikings their 10th win at home this season, marking the fifth straight season that Cleveland State has recorded 10+ wins at home. In addition, this marks the sixth time under head coach Chris Kielsmeier that the Vikings have notched double-digit wins on their home court.
 
MAGASSA REACHES 500 CAREER REBOUNDS
After finishing with four rebounds against Detroit Mercy last time out, Ayisse Magassa recorded the 500th rebound of her career. Magassa finished the game with 502 career boards, including 74 that she has recorded here at Cleveland State. Through 19 games played, Magassa is averaging 3.9 rebounds per game.
 
FEGAN TALLIES BACK-TO-BACK DOUBLE-DOUBLES
Macey Fegan recorded her second straight double-double against Detroit Mercy last time out, finishing with 15 points and 10 rebounds against the Titans. Fegan, who recorded 16 points and 10 boards against Wright State last week, now has a team-best three double-doubles on the season. For the year, she is averaging 8.5 points and 5.4 rebounds per game, while shooting 56-percent from the floor.
 
…FIVE VIKINGS HAVE DOUBLE-DOUBLES ON THE YEAR
Through the first part of the 2025-26 campaign a league-leading five Vikings have tallied double-doubles, including Macey Fegan and Izabella Zingaro who have multiple on the year. Cleveland State is one of just two schools with two or more players that have multiple double-doubles on the year, while the Vikings also lead the league with 10 individual double-digit rebounding performances on the year.
 
ZINGARO NOTCHES 20-POINT GAME AGAINST DETROIT MERCY
Last time out, Izabella Zingaro tallied her fourth 20-point game of the season, finishing right on the number in the win over Detroit Mercy. Zingaro leads the Vikings and ranks second in the Horizon League averaging 15.5 points per game this season. Over the last three games, Zingaro is averaging 20.6 points per game, with two of her 20-point performances on the season coming during this stretch.
 
…ZINGARO AMONG NATION'S BEST IN FIELD GOAL PERCENTAGE
Entering Sunday's game, Izabella Zingaro ranks fifth among Division I players with a .639 field goal percentage on the year. Zingaro, who has been perfect from the field twice this season, leads all league players in the category while also ranking second in the #HLWBB standings with a .833 free throw percentage.
 
CLEVELAND STATE ON THE BOARDS
Over the last two games Cleveland State has held a major advantage on the boards, outrebounding its opponents 88-45. Last time out, the Vikings grabbed 43 rebounds against Detroit Mercy, marking the seventh time this season that CSU has recorded 40+ boards in a game. For the year, the Vikings are averaging 36.9 rebounds per game, ranking fourth among Horizon League teams.
 
HURLEY BACK IN THE STARTING LINEUP
Last time out, sophomore Sarah Hurley was once again in the starting lineup for the Vikings, marking her fifth appearance in the starting five for her career. Overall this season, Hurley is averaging 4.2 points and 3.6 rebounds per game, but over the last three contests she is averaging 7.0 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. Against Detroit Mercy earlier this week, Hurley recorded nine points - on a trio of triples - marking her second straight game with three conversions from behind-the-arc.
 
LEONARD TOP-15 NATIONALLY IN STEALS
After 19 games played this season, Jada Leonard continues to lead the Horizon League and rank 13th nationally with 59 steals on the year. Leonard, who has recorded at least one takeaway in every game this season, is averaging 3.1 steals per game. Leonard's 59 steals on the year makes her the only Horizon League player with 50+ takeaways during the 2025-26 campaign.
 
CLEVELAND STATE ON THE OFFENSIVE END
As a team, Cleveland State has had one of the more efficient offenses so far this season, leading the Horizon League in Scoring (72.4), Margin (14.4) and Field Goal Percentage (.460). In addition, the Vikings have scored 70+ points 10 times, while three Vikings rank in the top-five among league players in scoring; Izabella Zingaro (2nd-15.5), Colbi Maples (3rd-14.3), and Jada Leonard (5th-13.2).
 
…VIKINGS SHARING THE BALL
So far this season the Vikings have done a good job of sharing the ball, as they rank third among league teams averaging 14.42 assists per game. Last time out, Cleveland State recorded 17 assists on 23 made field goals against Detroit Mercy, marking the ninth straight game that the Vikings have recorded double-digit helpers. Through the first 19 games, CSU has posted 10+ assists 17 times, including a trio of 20-assist games.
 
HEAD COACH CHRIS KIELSMEIER
The Vikings will be under the direction of eighth-year head coach Chris Kielsmeier, who owns a career head coaching record of 582-191. At Cleveland State, Kielsmeier owns a record of 166-75, with his 150th victory as a Viking coming in a 92-61 decision over Detroit Mercy last season. Under his guidance, Cleveland State has posted five 20-win seasons, including a program-record 30 wins during the 2023-24 campaign.
