CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland State (2-3-1) shutout St. Bonaventure (1-3-2) 1-0 on Sunday afternoon. Both victories for the Green and White this season have come via shutouts.
The first half went scoreless, with the Vikings holding a 9-3 edge in shots.
With the game looking like it would end in a scoreless draw, Mayra Sesmas scored her team-leading third goal of the year off a pass from Sophia Cucchetti in the 88th minute.
The Green and White held a 20-8 edge in shots and an 8-4 margin in shots on goal. Sesmas had a team-best four shots with three on frame. Cortlyn Hefty and Cucchetti each had three shots.
Elyse Broderick, making her first start of the year in goal, recorded four saves.
The Vikings will conclude non-league play with Senior Day on Sunday, Sept. 14, against Morehead State at 1 p.m.
