CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland State (0-2-2) and Canisius (1-2-1) battled to a 2-2 draw on Saturday evening. Both draws for the Vikings have come at home.
The Vikings couldn't have asked for a better start, striking in the second minute.
Uzman Ramees played a perfect cross that was headed on by
Matteo Correia and then headed into the back of the net by
Peleg Armendariz.
Correia doubled the margin in the 18th minute with his second goal of the year off a perfect through ball from
Jacob Deever.
The Vikings were holding strong until Canisius got on the board with 25 seconds remaining in the opening half to trail 2-1.
The Griffs equalized just three minutes into the second half on Leslie's second goal of the game.
Cleveland State held an 18-6 edge in shots, including a 7-3 advantage in shots on goal.
Armendariz led the way with six shots, as two of those were on target.
Ryan Poling played the entire game in goal but didn't record a save.
The Green and White open Horizon League play at Milwaukee on Saturday, Sept. 13, at 6 p.m.
