HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Cleveland State (1-2-4, 1-0-2) remained unbeaten in league play after drawing at Northern Kentucky (2-4-3, 0-1-2) 1-1 on Saturday evening. Both league ties this season have occurred on the road.
The Norse got on the board in the sixth minute after Oliver Eckhardt converted on a free kick. That strike would be the only one in the half, as the home side led 1-0 and held a 7-3 edge in shots.
Cleveland State pulled even in the 68th minute as
Tom Mertz netted his first of the year. The Vikings held a commanding 9-2 advantage in shots in the second half, but the game ended in a 1-1 tie.
The Vikings held a 12-9 advantage in shots and a 5-2 edge in corner kicks. Mertz had a game-best four shots, with two of those on frame.
Djordje Petrovic had three shots, and
Josip Rimac came off the bench with two.
Ryan Poling made two saves in goal.
The Green and White take a break from non-league action, hosting St. Bonaventure on Tuesday, Sept. 30, at 6 p.m.
