CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland State (3-3-4, 0-0-3) remained unbeaten in Horizon League play after recording its third straight draw against Youngstown State (2-8-1, 1-1-1), 1-1 on Thursday evening. The Green and White now have four ties on the year, which ties for the most in a single season, which was set in 2022.
The Vikings opened the scoring in the 29th minute when
Cortlyn Hefty finished off a through ball from
Elise Boyd to lead 1-0. The goal for Hefty was her third of the year, all of which have come in league matches.
Cleveland State maintained the 1-0 advantage at the intermission while holding an 8-4 edge in shots.
Youngstown State managed to equalize in the 77th minute when Kamryn Rosa took advantage of a bad clearance to strike from the top of the box.
The Vikings held a 16-7 advantage in shots, while each team had three shots on goal. The corner kicks favored the home team 6-3.
Tanji Sarver and Hefty each finished with four shots.
Hayleigh Lewis returned to the goal and made two saves.
Cleveland State will get back on Krenzler Field on Sunday at 1 p.m. against IU Indy.
