QUICK SETS
The Cleveland State volleyball team will open the 2025 season this weekend, traveling west for the Rumble in the Rockies hosted by Wyoming. This will mark the first three matches of an 11-match non-league schedule, as the Vikings are set to face Colorado (Friday, August 29), the host Cowgirls (Saturday, August 30) and Tulsa (Sunday, August 31).

VIKINGS IN WYOMING
This weekend's Rumble in the Rockies will mark the second time in program history that Cleveland State is making the trip to the state of Wyoming, with the Vikings also heading west during the 2008 campaign. In 2008, the Vikings played in the Wyoming Invitational, facing UAB, Kansas and the host Cowgirls.

CSU IN SEASON-OPENING TOURNAMENTS
Since the 2000 season when
Chuck Voss took over the Cleveland State volleyball program, the Vikings have posted a 45-26 record in season-opening tournaments, including a pair of wins against Western Carolina and College of Charleston at last year's Carolina Classic.

AGAINST THE FIELD
Cleveland State will be facing two new opponents this weekend, as Colorado and Tulsa will both be first-time opponents for the Vikings. This will mark just the fourth meeting between Cleveland State and Wyoming, with the Cowgirls owning a 3-0 edge in the all-time series, including a 3-1 victory last season inside Woodling Gymnasium during the CSU Invitational.

NEW LOOK VIKINGS
This year's edition of the Vikings features just eight returners from last year's team, while they are joined by seven newcomers. This newcomer group includes six true freshmen and one senior transfer.

VOSS CLOSING IN ON 1,000 CAREER KILLS
Entering her final season of collegiate volleyball, senior
Laken Voss is closing in on 1,000 career kills, entering the opening weekend of the 2025 campaign with 920 total kills. Voss, who currently ranks ninth in the CSU Career Record Book with 3,351 total attempts, would be the second Viking in as many years to reach the 1,000-kill milestone.

VIKINGS ENTER 2025 AS REIGNING #HLVB CHAMPIONS
Cleveland State enters the 2025 campaign as the reigning Horizon League Tournament Champions, capturing the program's sixth tournament title last year. The Vikings picked up wins against IU Indy, Milwaukee and Green Bay during #HLVB tournament play, earning their sixth trip to the NCAA Tournament.

…TABBED FOURTH IN #HLVB PRESEASON POLL
Prior to the 2025 campaign starting, the Vikings were tabbed to finish fourth in the #HLVB Preseason Poll. Earning 65 points and a pair of first-place votes, Cleveland State finished behind league favorite Wright State, Milwaukee, and Green Bay.

HEAD COACH CHUCK VOSS
Chuck Voss is in his 26th season at the helm of the Vikings, and owns a 430-303 (.587) overall record at Cleveland State. Under Voss the Vikings have recorded 19 winning seasons, including a streak of 10 straight from 2009-2018. Cleveland State has eclipsed the 20-win mark nine times since Voss took over the program, and has captured Horizon League Tournament titles six times under his guidance.

LOOKING AHEAD
Cleveland State will open its home slate with a trio of matches next week as part of the CSU Invitational. The Vikings will host Akron on Wednesday, September 3, before welcoming American (Friday, September 5) and ETSU (Saturday, September 6).
