BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Cleveland State (1-2) was edged by Bowling Green (2-1) 2-1 on Thursday evening.
The Falcons grabbed the first lead of the game in the 31st minute as Emma Stransky found the back of the net off a pass from Ella Kane. BGSU doubled the margin in the 44th minute after Gaby Lamparty scored off a feed from Michelle Hochstadt.
The Vikings got a goal back in the 71st minute after
Mayra Sesmas capitalized on a bad clearance, volleying into the upper corner to trail 2-1. Cleveland State kept the pressure on during the final 20 minutes but was unable to get the equalizer, falling for a second time this season.
Cleveland State fired off ten shots on the day, with six of those going on frame. Sesmas tied for a game-best four shots, with two of them on frame.
Tanji Sarver had two shots on goal.
Hayleigh Lewis made five saves on the day.
Cleveland State returns to Krenzler Field on Thursday, Aug. 28, as Saint Francis comes to town for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
