CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland State (0-1) was edged by Kent State (1-0) 1-0 in the 2025 season & home opener on Thursday evening.
The Golden Flashes got on the board in the 25th minute after Samantha Miller finished off a rebounded save on a Kiyomi McCausland shot. The scoreline remained the same heading into the break.
The Vikings equalized on a free kick in the 48th minute; however, the goal was disallowed after VAR found a Cleveland State player to be offside, maintaining the deficit at 1-0.
Cleveland State kept the pressure on down the stretch but was unable to find the back of the net as the Golden Flashes hung on for the 1-0 win.
