CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State track & field team had a busy week, competing in two meets, including winning the Sparky Adams Invitational.
 
"It was a great week to be a Viking! We broke three school records today from Tilly, Grace and the 4x400, while Madison also set the Heptathlon record earlier this week," head coach Jason Hudson said. "We are starting to get closer to our peak performance at the right time of year, and we have three weeks until conference and I'm excited to see us firing on all cylinders when we get there."
 
To begin the week, Madison Luthy represented the Vikings at the Hillsdale Midweek Multi Meet, capturing first place in the Heptathlon with a program record total of 4,451 points. Luthy placed first in the 100 Hurdles (14.93), Shot Put (9.68) and 800 Meter Run (2:26.43) en route to winning the event.
 
In sprint events, Olivia Todd paced the Vikings by winning the 100 Hurdles with a time of 15.14, while Natalie Pleban (3^rd-15.91) and Morgyn Cruz (4^th-16.09) also recorded top-five showings in the event. In addition, Tilly Nasende posted a pair of runner-up finishes in the 200 (24.87) and 400 (56.55), while her time in the 400 Meter Dash marking a program record.

Cleveland State also had a second place showing from Luthy in the 400 Meter Hurdles, as she finished in a time of 1:03.28.

Ana Crangle posted the Vikings' top distance finish on the day, placing second in the 5000 Meter Run with a time of 17:54.47. Brooke Bechtel also posted a top-five finish in the event, placing fourth overall with a time of 18:31.11.

In field events, Grace Frye led the way with a pair of third-place finishes in the Hammer (50.01) and Shot Put (13.20), with her mark in the Hammer setting a program record. In addition, Chloe Amoroso also placed third in the Triple Jump, posting a mark of 10.50.

Cleveland State won both relay events on the day, including the 4x400 quartet of Zuriah Radeff-Koonce, Olivia Todd, Madison Morris, and Nasende setting a program record with a time of 3:57.04.
 
The Vikings will be back in action at the Ashland Alumni Invite next weekend.
