CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland State (2-3) was victorious on Senior Day against Canisius (0-6) 11-8 on Saturday afternoon. The Vikings honored

Canisius opened the scoring at 7:40, but
Will Adair netted the equalizer less than a minute later. Forty seconds later, Care put the Green and White on top off a pass from
Wyatt Robertson.
Griffin Burkey extended the margin to 3-1 with an unassisted goal with 1:48 remaining as the game shifted to the second frame.
Amiri Austin bagged a goal at 11:54, which was answered a minute later, as the home team stayed ahead 4-2. Adair netted his second with 6:14 to go in the half, and again the Golden Griffins struck back less than a minute later as the scoreboard read 5-3.
After trading goals,
Creed McDonald struck with 29 seconds left as the Green and White led 7-4 at halftime.
Canisius started the second half fast, scoring 40 seconds in, climbing with a pair of goals.
Adam Van Voorhis struck with 4:32 left in the quarter, and then two minutes later,
Xander Johnson scored as the Vikings led 9-5 with one quarter left.
Robbie Stewart won the opening faceoff of the fourth and sprinted right to goal for his first of the year to lead 10-5. Johnson notched his second of the game with 9:02 to play, giving CSU its largest lead of the game, 11-5. The visitors accounted for the final three of the game, but it wasn't enough as the Vikings won on senior day, 11-8.
The Vikings won the groundball battle 40-33, with Stewart picking up a game-best nine. He was also 11-of-18 in the faceoff circle.
Griffin Valli forced a game-best three turnovers.
Justin Dalum played 56 minutes in the cage, finishing with 14 saves.
The Vikings begin its longest road trip of the season with four consecutive starting with Michigan on Tuesday, March 4 at 5 p.m.
