FULLERTON, Calif. – The Cleveland State women's basketball team completed a West Coast comeback Sunday, picking up a 68-61 victory at Cal State Fullerton. With the win, the Vikings are now 2-0 on the year.

Paula Pique both notched their first double-doubles of the season, Zingaro with 16 points and 12 rebounds, Pique with 10 points and 10 boards.
-This marks the second straight game that
Jada Leonard has grabbed five or more steals, finishing right on the number against Cal State Fullerton.
-With the 68-61 victory, the Vikings are now 2-0 against Cal State Fullerton all-time.
-Sunday's game marked the first road game of the 2025-26 season, and also marked the first game in the state of California for the Vikings since the 2018-19 campaign.
The Game
After trailing by 10 points following the first quarter, the Vikings were able to control play during most of the second frame, closing the gap to just five points at the halftime break.
The two teams traded points during the first part of the second quarter, until a
Paula Pique layup at the 7:16 mark pulled the Vikings within seven at 22-15. The Titans responded with a 7-2 run, before a
Colbi Maples three-pointer closed the gap to single digits once again at 29-20 at the midway point of the frame.
Over the next few minutes the two teams once again traded baskets, until the Vikings closed out the frame on a 6-2 run of their own, putting the score at 37-32 Cal State Fullerton after the first two quarters.
Cleveland State was once again able to hold an advantage during the third quarter, as the Vikings chipped away at the lead until knotting the score at 52-52 heading into the final 10 minutes of play.
After closing the gap to four points over the first nine minutes of the frame, the Vikings closed out the quarter with a 4-0 run, including a
Macey Fegan jumper and a pair of
Ayisse Magassa free throws to tie the score after 30 minutes of play.
The Vikings carried their momentum into the fourth quarter then, as an
Izabella Zingaro free throw and a Magassa layup gave the Vikings a 55-52 advantage just over one minute into the quarter. Cleveland State then held the lead over the next few possessions, including a
Colbi Maples three-pointer at the 6:40 mark to put the Vikings up 58-53.
Although the Titans were able to regain a lead over the next 5:30, the Vikings didn't go away, with back-to-back
Paula Pique three-pointers regaining a 64-61 lead with just 1:11 left on the clock.
Jada Leonard then helped secure the victory for the Vikings over the final minute, as a pair of steals, a 2-for-2 effort form the free throw line and a breakaway layup gave Cleveland State 68-61 victory.
