CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State women's basketball team remained perfect at home this season on Wednesday, picking up a 75-71 victory over St. Bonaventure to open play at the CSU Invitational. With the win, the Vikings are now 5-1 overall this season.

The Game
After a back-and-forth first half, the two teams headed into the halftime break with the score knotted at 37-37.
The Vikings opened the third quarter with four straight points then, as a
Jada Leonard steal and layup along with a pair of
Colbi Maples free throws gave the Vikings a slight 41-37 edge. This lead wouldn't last long though, as St. Bonaventure responded with a 4-0 run of its own, before a pair of
Macey Fegan free throws put Cleveland State back on top midway through the frame.
The two teams then traded baskets over the next few possessions, with the Bonnies earning a lead at the 3:31 mark, before a 7-4 run from the Vikings put the score at 56-54 Cleveland State heading into the final quarter of play.
During the fourth quarter Cleveland State was able to slowly expand its lead, with back-to-back Leonard baskets giving the Vikings a six-point lead 64-58 with 3:54 left on the clock.
Although St. Bonaventure was able to chip away at the lead over the next few minutes, Cleveland State answered with an
Ayisse Magassa layup with just 35 seconds left to play, putting the score at 70-66 Vikings.
Cleveland State was then able to put the game away with a 5-for-6 combined effort from Leonard and Maples from the free throw line over the final 19 seconds, pulling away with the 75-71 victory.
