CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State women's basketball team picked up its second win during the CSU Invitational Friday, earning an 80-41 victory over Valparaiso. With the win, the Vikings are now 6-1 on the season.

The Game
After trading baskets to begin the contest, Cleveland State was quickly able to gain control of the game, as a 12-0 run put the Vikings up by double-digits at 14-4. The Vikings were then able to extend their lead throughout the rest of the first quarter, taking a 23-8 advantage into the second frame.
Despite Valparaiso opening the second frame with a three-pointer, back-to-back three-pointers from
Sarah Hurley in response put Cleveland State up 29-11 less than one minute into the frame. The Vikings added another six points on to this run, extending their lead to 35-11 on a
Macey Fegan layup, before closing out the second quarter on a 9-4 run to put the score at 44-15 heading into the halftime break.
Cleveland State then controlled play throughout the third quarter, as a 21-point frame put Cleveland State up 65-28 heading into the final 10 minutes of play.
The Vikings carried their momentum into the fourth quarter, as back-to-back baskets from
Ayisse Magassa and
Colby Guinta put the Vikings up 69-28 just over one minute into the frame. Cleveland State was then able to hold a 40-point lead throughout the majority of the fourth quarter, coming away with the 80-41 victory over the Beacons.
