Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Cleveland State Men's Basketball Falls at Kent State, 91-71

KENT, Ohio – Cleveland State (2-5, 0-0 Horizon League) fell to Kent State (6-1, 0-0 MAC), 91-71, at the M.A.C. Center in Kent, Ohio on Saturday afternoon.

"I was excited to see our guys that normally don't get the opportunity to step up," head coach Rob Summers said. "It shows how much depth we have as a program. It wasn't the result that we wanted, but our effort and culture was there."

Senior guard Jaidon Lipscomb (Columbus, Ohio) led the way with a season-high 15 points on 4-of-5 shooting and 3-of-4 from the three-point line. Junior guard Chevalier Emery (Appleton, Wisconsin) chipped-in 13 points. Junior guard David Giddens (Atlanta, Georgia) contributed a season-high 11 points after going 3-of-5 from the field.

Freshman forward Kevo St. Hilaire (West Lafayette, Indiana) scored his first career points as a Viking and finished with four. St. Hilaire was +8 in his time on the floor.

"Great minutes by Kevo (St. Hilaire) today," Summers added. I think he has great feel and great touch. He's all of 6'10, he's an unbelievable kid, but he gives us that size down in the paint. We are excited about his development as a freshman and he's someone we're excited to keep around the program."

As a team, Cleveland State was 21-of-49 (42.9%) from the field and 7-of-18 (38.9%) from deep. The Vikings were 22-of-30 (73.3%) from the free throw line.

Cleveland State forced 19 turnovers and had 10 steals, with Lipscomb leading the way with three.

Kent State pushed out to a 17 point lead at the break. After the Golden Flashes extended their lead to 20, Cleveland State was able to go on a 7-0 run in under a minute at the 17:21 mark of the second half but could not get the KSU lead below that.

Cleveland State is back in action on Tuesday, November 25 at 7 p.m. against Waynesburg. The game will be played in Woodling Gymnasium on the campus of Cleveland State University.
