CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State volleyball team closed out the Holiday Inn Express Downtown Cleveland CSU Invitational Saturday, dropping a four-set match against Wyoming. Following the weekend, the Vikings are now 4-2 on the year.
Three Vikings finished the match with double-digit kills, including
Liberty Torres with 13 and
Ella Mihacevich and
Laken Voss with 11 each.
Mihacevich also added 26 assists and 10 digs, marking her first triple-double of the year.
Emma Walker posted a team-best 12 digs, while Voss added 11.
Despite dropping the first two sets, the Vikings were able to earn a 25-21 victory in the third frame. Midway through the set, the Vikings were able to post a 5-1 run, gaining a 15-14 advantage on a Torres block.
Cleveland State was able to hold the edge throughout the rest of the set, including a 4-0 run to close out the frame with back-to-back Voss kills.
Wyoming rebounded during the fourth set then, picking up a 25-16 set victory to earn the 3-1 match win.
Cleveland State will hit the road next weekend, traveling to Virginia Tech for the Hokie Invitational on Friday, September 13 and Saturday, September 14.
