DAYTON, Ohio – Cleveland State (0-10-1, 0-4-0) fell to Wright State (3-6-1, 1-1-1) on Sunday afternoon by a score of 3-2.
The Vikings led for the first time this season after
Mayra Sesmas found the back of the net in the 15th minute off a pass from
Erica Leinweber. The scoreline remained the same at halftime despite Wright State holding an 11-2 edge in shots.
The Raiders wasted no time coming out of the half, tying the game just 25 seconds in as Elise Canter scored off assists from Addy Canter and Samara Nunn.
Cleveland State went back ahead in the 52nd minute as Leinweber scored off a feed from
Sophia Cucchetti. However, Wright State retied the game just 25 seconds later on a Samara Nunn tally.
The Raiders netted the game winner in the 85th minute on an Olivia Stroud strike as the Vikings fell in the league game, 3-2.
Wright State held a 19-4 advantage in shots and 8-3 edge in shots on goal. Sesmas accounted for two of the four shots.
Tanji Sarver and Leinweber had the other ones.
Elyse Broderick started her first game of the year in goal, finishing with five saves.
The Green and White return home for Senior Day on Saturday, Oct. 5 against Green Bay at 1 p.m.
