Cleveland State Women's Soccer Falls at Home to NKU

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Vikings (0-9-1, 0-3-0) returned home after three straight games on the road but fell to Northern Kentucky (5-6-0, 2-1-0) 4-0 on Thursday evening.

The Norse got into the scoring column first after Kaya Vogt capitalized on a bad clearance by the Vikings defense. The visitors doubled the margin in the 35th minute as Erykah Cornett finished a cross from Newman and Molner.

The scoreline stayed 2-0 in favor of NKU at the intermission, with the Green and White trailing 6-3 in the shot category.

The second half went scoreless until the Norse found the back of the net in the 83rd and 88th minutes to claim the 4-0 road victory. Each team had three shots during the second half of play.

Both teams had six corners on the night, while NKU held a slim 9-6 edge in shots. Mayra Sesmas and Erica Leinweber each had two shots. Leinweber accounted for the only shot on frame.

Madison Ott took the loss in goal after playing the first half before giving way to Elyse Broderick, who was making her season debut. Ott managed two saves in the game.

The Vikings get back on the road Sunday to face Wright State at 1 p.m.
