FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Cleveland State (0-7-1, 0-1-0) opened Horizon League play with a 1-0 loss to Purdue Fort Wayne (6-3-1, 1-0-0) on Thursday night.
The only goal of the opening half belonged to PFW as Chole Mariotti converted a free kick from just outside the box in the 39th minute.
The second half was a defensive battle with the contest ending 1-0 in favor of the Dons.
Cleveland State fired off eight shots on the night with
Mayra Sesmas and
Eleanor Simkonis each registering two apiece.
Payton Koebbe and
Emma Pompo each had a shot on frame.
Madison Ott made three saves goal.
The Vikings play its second straight road league game on Sunday, Sept. 22 at IU Indy with a 1 p.m. start time.
