Cleveland State Men's Soccer Topples Chicago State, 3-1

CLEVELAND, OHIO – Cleveland State (2-0-1) recorded its second straight home victory on Friday evening after defeating Chicago State (0-3-0) 3-1.

Bojan Kolevski tallied the first two goals of the game in the 16th and 18th minutes off assists from Marko Rimac and Quinn Groves to lead 2-0. The senior nearly had the hat-trick in the 33rd minute but his shot from the middle of the box went off the crossbar.

Cleveland State took the 2-0 advantage into the intermission as both teams registered six shots in the half.

Chicago State snapped the Green and White streak of 197 minutes without allowing a goal in the 83rd minute as Danail Sergiev found the back of the net.

The Vikings answered back three minutes later as Matteo Correia tallied his first collegiate goal off a rebounded shot from Josip Rimac to win 3-1.

Kolevski's two tallies on the night raised his career total to 30, one back of tying for the tenth most in program history.

Stephen Yerian earned the win in goal after making seven saves.

The Vikings will look to remain unbeaten when they make the short trip over to Akron on Monday, Sept. 2 for a 7 p.m. Labor Day contest.
