CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland State (1-0-1) shutout St. Bonaventure (0-1-0) 1-0 in the home opener on Sunday afternoon.
The Vikings struck quickly in the fourth minute as
Caleb Trowbridge finished off a
Marko Rimac shot that was initially saved to lead 1-0. Cleveland State was outshot 8-6 in the half but kept the one-goal advantage at the break.
Neither team could find the back of the net in the second half with the Vikings holding a 5-4 edge in shots.
The Green and White finished with 11 shots including six on frame.
Bojan Kolevski and M. Rimac each finished with three shots.
Stephen Yerian recorded his first career shutout after making eight saves.
Cleveland State remains at home to face Chicago State on Friday, Aug. 30 at 7 p.m.
